Seize the Film is an international film festival addressing disability. The festival is held annually, first in Novi Sad, followed by Rijeka, Banja Luka, and Kotor. Featuring excellent short films and various art programs and workshops, Seize the Film, alongside its audience, changes perspectives.
The festival organizers take care of accessibility of its content and always make sure the content is available to everyone. The venue of Seize the Film in Novi Sad is fully accessible: The cinema and toilets are accessible to people with disabilities). Films with subtitles and speech translated into sign language make the festival content fully accessible to Deaf people. The film program is audio-described and synchronized, making it accessible to visually impaired and blind people. Entrance to the festival is free for everybody so that the quality content we offer can be available to everyone.
More than 450 films from all over the world enters our film competition every year. All films were first checked to see how the theme of disability, or people with disabilities was presented because Uhvati film does not show pathetic stories that support stereotypes and discrimination. After that, guided by the criteria of film quality, but also the importance and originality of the themes, we got new films that change perspectives!
The main program of the festival (Films selected and awarded by the jury, panel discussions with the authors/actors) is held in in Novi Sad (Serbia).
Films that are selected and presented at the Film Festival “Seize the film!” in Novi Sad enter the shortlist for presentation in Rijeka (Croatia), and Kotor (Montengro) but also in our post-production programs.
Best films will be rewarded with a plaque and will be directly placed at the Festival of European documentary and independent film “Euro-In”, which is held in Novi Sad.
In addition to rewards for best film, best scenario, and best directing, an expert jury will award special awards for the contributions to the field of disability.
Some films may not be selected for the film program Uhvati film Novi Sad, but they can be part of Uhvati film Kids. Authors will be directly informed about this.
Also, from 2025. editions in Kotor and Rijeka will also award films.
