IGRANI FILM / FEATURE SHORTS:
PRVA NAGRADA: Abellon / Bumbar r. Fon Cortizo
1st Award Featured Short– Bumblebee; Through the thoughtful shaping of a world in which voice and words serve as means that transcend the standard diegeses (narration mediated by narrators or characters) of film form and authorial commentary, this film delivers a powerful story about visibility, fatherhood, and the delicacy of life and death. With the symbol of the bumblebee and the bees, the film deftly builds a dreamlike rhythm, relying on the unspoken and the implicit—not merely dramaturgically fragmented notes, but a mosaic formed through layered associative editing, which brings forth a powerful and emotional story.
DRUGA NAGRADA: Beyond each frame/Izvan pogleda r.
2nd Award Featured Short- Beyond each frame; This film powerfully depicts the necessary inclusivity in the processes of watching and creating film. The director, playing with those elements of film that are and are not accessible through sight, brings a strong true story of an audio describer who advocates for seeking the true soul of cinematic art beyond the visual sphere. Pointing at the same time to the importance of inclusion and offering a model for involving blind persons in enjoying predominantly visual content, Out of Sight, almost as a hybrid of fiction film and documented characters shows how in a simple and playful—but truly experiential—way, because it excellently portrays a real-life person in a fiction film!—one can contribute to a better understanding of the needs of the most vulnerable viewers of the seventh art. Despite the otherwise standard emphasis on dry objectivity, this type of audio description takes the side of preserving artistic experience, spirit, as well as clarity; commendable and necessary!
DOKUMENTARNI FILM/ DOCUMENTARIES:
PRVA NAGRADA: Menino / Moj dječak r. Lilih Curi
Potresan, nježan, snažan i poetičan. Ispunjen prekrasnim vizualnim metaforama i asocijativnom montažom, redateljica i tim donose intimnu priču o obitelji, ljubavi i gubitku, koja osvaja kombinacijom stvarnih i sugestivnih kadrova u dramaturški promišljen i slojevit dokumentarni film.
1st Award Documentary– MyBoy: Poignant, gentle, powerful, and poetic. These are all epithets that this film skillfully combines in shaping an (auto)biographical story about a blind mother and her children. Filled with beautiful visual metaphors and associative editing, the director and the team deliver an intimate story about family, love, and loss, which captivates through a combination of real and suggestive shots in a dramaturgically thoughtful and layered documentary film. Although ‘only’ a documentary, it is also cathartic, as well as fluent and substantively film-rhythmic with the energy of a woman. Additionally noteworthy—no one in our audience realized through viewing alone that the mother is blind, which intrinsically and according to the statement belongs to the authors’ intention—not to say anything about it—relying on the immense positivity and the non-victim stance of the protagonist.
DRUGA NAGRADA; Mama wraca / Mama se vraća r. Mikolaj Janik
2nd Award Documentary- Mom is going back; With an excellent structure (changes of plans for the set with situations that surely follow the actors even outside the set itself, in life), and similar counterpoints, this narrative keeps pace with the dynamic race of mother and daughter, who bravely stride through a pitiless world; those of open consciousness, showing it what strong women are, whom the surroundings would so easily reduce to their own mini-sacrificial measure, precisely what neither they nor the social atmosphere of support need. The authentic integrity of the character of such women and protectors simply does not allow that, which corresponds excellently to the (photo) scenes of the character of nature—harsh and cold, and at the same time healing and full of warmth—such as those offered by the mother’s instructive words and gestures. The peace and overall presence of the girl during the filming are fascinating; this certainly speaks of the quality relationships and preparation of both that small family and the film’s working team.
PROMJENA PERSPEKTIVE / change perspective
PRVA NAGRADA: Les chaussures rouges / Crvene cipele r. Carolina Kzan on creative concept by Malys Arrabit
1st Award – Red shoes- By anthropomorphizing her indispensable life companion, the protagonist reveals her everyday life, intertwining it with contemporary, performative dance. With dynamic and self-aware narration, the film skillfully balances an emotional tone and the motif of ascent, relying above all on poetic stage imagery and formal playfulness in portraying life with a disability. In doing so, the film contributes in an original way to the creation of new perspectives in which dance is not merely an artistic act, but a powerful metaphor for movement — the inner one that manifests through strong expression. It is an intimately brave step out of autobiographical recording of the author’s personal choreographic story, through collaboration with external representation. The red shoes are far more than the wheelchair, and the person in it.
DRUGA NAGRADA: La lueur d l’Adieu / Moć pozdrava r. Audry Sangla
2nd Award- Power of goodby; This film, through a heavy and painful story of daily life with illness, shifts the perspective on the process of euthanasia as a form of human right. Its inclusiveness, beyond the thematic level, is evident in the majority participation of deaf persons and volunteers, which makes it immensely relevant on two levels for new ways of thinking about and representing vulnerable social groups. Yet the film never slips into pathos; instead, through a thoughtful cinematic language, it delivers a gentle story about a difficult personal decision in a situation where possibilities of healing and recovery do not exist.
ISTAKNUTOST/ HIGHLIHTS
Highlight -za humorističnu autentičnu reprezentaciju
Odličnim utjecajem glazbe, humorom i realitetom kakvoga glumci proživljavaju- ali u svom stvarnom životu, film potpuno zastupa vrijednosti svoje produkcije, inkluzivno se obraćajući svijetu. Izvrstan za vršnjačko učenje i prihvaćanje.
Slamajući normalno – Breaking normal
r. Jessica Cabot
Highligh -comedy by and on authenitc representation; With the excellent influence of music, humor, and the reality the actors live through — in their real lives — the film fully represents the values of its production, addressing the world inclusively. It is excellent for peer learning and acceptance.
U njezinim cipelama/ In her shoes r.Ella Chikezie
Highlight -za društveni utjecaj;
Highlight -for visibility for social impact :
By literally offering a chance to save the lives of neurodivergent children across the African continent, through a call for non-violence and the protection of girls, and by emphasizing the implementation of knowledge within families — by finally speaking openly about it — we find the value and courage of this film.
